Not Born in the USA
Although there are many things that I can take away from this project and say "I learned this," I think that the most important things that I learned would be the facts and knowledge about Colombia and I have learned how to create more complex sentences. I think that it will be a benefit to know about Colombia because I have been invited to go with my half step brother and his family, who are originally from Colombia. When this project arose and I found out that I could chose any project I chose to focus on Colombia because of the reason that I have been invited to join when they go next. It is good to know about a culture before you go to the country because then everything isn't new to you and you know of things that you can relate to. It is helpful to be able to create more complex sentences in Spanish because I would someday like to go to Colombia with my half step brothers family and be able to understand what is going on around me. At the moment when I go over to their house his parents speak Spanish and I have no clue what they are saying, but I think that it will be good to understand them because then we can have conversations and I can continue to expand my knowledge of Spanish.
Even though I did not participate in the Del Alma Exhibition, I think that it would have been a good experience to have. The day of the exhibition I got sick and I wasn't able to go to the exhibition, but I would have liked to have gone. The exhibition sounded like it was a good time by all of my peers, but it also sounded like all of the kids that we were reading to focused on one persons book. I would have liked to go to the exhibition to have the experience of reading my book to kids, but I wasn't able to.
